Parent and Child Workshop - Fougasse
There is something quietly perfect about making a fougasse with your children.
Shaped like a leaf, golden and fragrant from the oven, studded with olives and rosemary : it is one of the most visually stunning breads in the French tradition.
Beautiful and nourishing, the fougasse is creative and generous in equal measure.
The Fougasse is one of Provence's most beloved breads. It is ancient, unpretentious, and extraordinary to look at. (And it happens to be the bread on the cover of my book Babette's Bread !)
For this workshop, we're inviting mothers, fathers, grandparents and children into the studio to make it together.
The Experience
A calm beautiful morning of baking for two focused, joyful hours. The dough will be ready for you when you arrive. So you and the little ones go straight to the good part.
You'll work together to score the dough into that signature leaf shape, then press in the classic toppings like fresh rosemary, olives, fleur de sel, a generous drizzle of olive oil.
This is a group effort. Every fougasse is a little different, a little personal. That's part of its charm.
While your bread bakes, you'll taste a warm sample fresh from the oven. Then you're done, fougasse in hand, the rest of your day to enjoy.
A morning well spent. A bread worth making. A memory worth keeping.
